  1. I ripped the DVD's using Smartripper and am converting to .avi using DVDx 2.0. When I play the movie back, the audio begins to not by in sync with the video. Also the audio is randomly patchy where you miss the first word of a sentance or something similar. I followed the settings as outlined by the conversion from DVD to Divx faq but did I miss something here???? Any hints, suggestions, or other guides would be helpfull.

  2. i have the exact same problems, but with all formats - not just avi. please let me know if you resolve this.

my latest problem is the video/audio being out of sync only on my standalone dvd player. i dont know what i did, but when i encoded it, it was in sync on my hard drive, but as soon as i burned the svcd and put it in the dvd player, it wouldn't stay in sync. it still stays in sync when read from my cd-rom drive though. weird...

  3. I use DVDx 2.0 too, and I am very unhappy with the audio synch problem too. There seems to have no combination that works allways, and it is very annoying. If someone knows how to convert a DVD in one step, please send a note.

  4. Whenever I want to convert a movie to SVCD, I use DVD2SVCD. It's a fantastic All-In-One program and it even creates the ready to burn images for you. It even allowed you to make several passes without any interuptions.
If I want to convert my movies to DivX, I use X-Mpeg 4.2. This is a altered version of FlaskMPEG. I get up 35 fps with my AthlonXP 1800+.
Both programs are extremely stable and easy. I tried many, many programs, but I think these 2 are the best you can get.
