  1. I was wondering why sometimes when I connect my DVD player directly into my VCR and record the DVD, the movie will mute and discolour for about 10 seconds then go back to normal, then discolour, then normal and so on throughout the entire thing. This only happens with certain ones though. Ones that did work include Swordfish, rush Hour 2, and Billand teds excellent adventure. Ones that did not work include Planet of the Apes, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and SNL:Best of Dana Carvey. Any insight on why this happens or better yet how to fix it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  2. This is Macrovision copy protection. It is designed to prevent copying from DVD to VHS. There are hardware boxes you can buy to bypass this and DVD Ripping can remove it. Otherwise you are stuck.

  5. As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  6. Sima are great (I have one myself for VHS) but they are not what I'd
use to overcome DVD macrovision. The best thing is to get a macrovision free DVD player.

    Different Sima models handle
different levels of macrovison. Non are perfect in all cases as
they have to filter the signal after macrovision is enabled.
A macrovision free DVD player will simply bypass macrovision
completely, resulting in a better picture all of the time.
