  1. Hello everyone!

    I have captured the very old movie from the very old tape.
    Even worse than that, the movie was recorded in LP mode.

    In the Vegas Video, I've built such a FX chain:

    1. Cropping
    2. Pure Black and White (75%) - eliminates the colour noise (the movie is in B&W, anyway)
    3. Linear Vertical Blur (0.5%) - to clean the LP "lines" noise
    4. Sharpen (light)
    5. Gaussian Motion Blur

    Codec - MainConcept MPEG1 VCD

    As a result, on the PC screen the quality is damn close to that of DVD (well, almost ), but when I am trying to watch it on the telly from VCD, it is best described as "crap". There are lines, blocks, grayscale mismatches and, even worse - the picture looks oversaturated.

    The DVD is Whargedale M5, so it plays virtually any VCD I did without any problem at all.

    I am grabbing video using the DV-cam passthrough, as follows:
    Wharfedale VCR950->Panasonic MX8->Dazzle VideoEditor

    Any ideas?

    P.S. Sorry for less-than-perfect English.

    load your movie into virtual dub..select temporal smother from the filter menu set temporal smother at about 7 or 8 then encode. if your version of vd does not have temporal smother you will have to download it
