I've been using tmpgenc12a up till now. I d/l tmpgenc v12i and ran the install.bat but cannot open any type of video files, mpg1, mpg2, avis or divx. I get message "unable to open or unsupported file."

    What am I doing wrong??

Did you also download and install the VFAPI plugin for version 12i as well?

I wonder if its Version 12i itself? So many are having this problem. I presume you have checked that the VFAPI facility is checked in TMPGEnc?

I much appreciate you help. Yes, the VFAPI facility is checked.

Strangely tmpgenc is now recognizing files though I haven't changed any of its settings. Had this happen to me before and then mysteriously stopped working after my first short encoding test. Hope it stays working now...

    Thanks for your interest.

  7. I'm having the exact same problem with 12i. I was encoding a SVCD capture to VCD, then I aborted the encoding and exited TMPGEnc. When I restarted TMPGEnc, it wouldn't open the SVCD capture and gave me the same error message "unable to open or unsupported file"

I can open the SVCD capture with no problem with 12a.
