I just picked up some Samsung DVD-R's from Tigerdirect.com
They were 5 for $15 or 20 for $50 - thought I would try 5.
On the box and the insert they say Ver 2.0 General for Data
Other brands I have used say General for Video and Data.
Is there some technicality in a DVD media spec. at work here ?
They burn fine and play well on my APEX 1500, but I am wondering if I send it to someone with a different player, are the odds they will play less because of some characteristic ?

There are two types of DVD-R's, general and authoring.
For making your own DVD-R's, you use the General type. It doesn't matter what else thay call it as long as it says General on it.
There are two specs made for the DVD-R's, version 1 and 2. I don't know what the difference is, but both versions will work.
