I ripped it with ripit4me and DVDdecrypter & fixvts, i have the complete 7 gigs of files on my ext HD, what i would like to do is

first choice backup the WS ver and all menus on single layer Disc

also do the same for the std ver

sec choice backup WS vers with out menus, but some kind of chaptering on single layer DISC

i'm sure something like this was covered in some other thread but i don't remember where

I'm also sure this where vob blanker and/or PGC edit come into use, and i have never used either one

I don't want to re-encode, and i think each ver is about 3.5 gig so i shouldn't have too re-encode

    thanks

I personally never backup menus .

if you just reauthor in shrink you do keep your chapters in the same spots and can skip around. also all subs and languages are there to chose via your remote if you keep them as well.

so you would just go to reauther and drag over the title you wish. you can preview the titles to check which is the ws and which is the fs.

alternatively if you wish to keep menus you can simply convert one of the main titels to a still image and check if you have the room. vob blanker is a bit neater but if you are handy wiht shrink this is a good workaround.

I think you want to check the final size. if keeping menus after still imaging one main title means compress at all I would see if title alone in reauthor will fit. I find I that my decision years ago to never compress or recode (either by re-authoring main movie only or splitting main into disks) was the right way to go now that I have higher definition and larger displays.

I forgot to mention , the main reason to keep the menus is to keep the extras, deleted scenes etc.

the main vobs for each version are about 3.2 gig this leaves room for the menus and extras on each disc

i don't want to actually shrink any of the files.

just split the (2) versions on to single layer discs

I have dvdshrink, but have never used it on a disc that had (2) versions of the same movie before now

  5. VobBlanker:

    http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/guides/VobBlanker/splitdvd9/index.php

That guide is for splitting a regular DVD9 into 2 pieces. You're doing something slightly, but not all that, different. You blank out (remove) one version and Process it. Then you blank out the other version and process it.

When done, you can remove the buttons that point to the missing version using PGCEdit, or even skip over the menu screen where you choose which version you want, and go directly to the menu for the version on that DVD5:

thanks, i will read up on it

I was able to use dvdshrink and and do each ver onto a separate disc with chapters intact, and it auto plays with no problems, no compression

I would like to do a disc with the 'bloopers' and 'deleted' scenes on it

i've used shrink in the past to rip DVD's and shrink them for a single layer disc but they were always just one version on the disc and lots of extra content that i ignored, usually for the PC or directors commentary

Use CloneDVD ... to see what angle to choose and it also displays the wide screen and full screen version ... just put a tick mark in the boxes ... you want to keep

Just some info...I often use Shrink to do just that. Add the extras at the end of the movie w/o the menu guide in reauthor mode.
Sometimes I chop off the end credits and add the alternate ending right after the movie ending. Then add the deleted scenes and whatever else I want.
But it all can be done with Shrink except having the menu guide but again you can just skip to the next chapter and land on the extra you want.
Also I have used menus and made two discs say one in DD5.1 and one in DTS5.1. This way I dont have to compress as if I put both on one disc. This is good for a concert DVD in both DD & DTS where a menu is good to have.

I keep both DD5.1 and DTS ... but I use DVD Rebuilder with CCE and picture looks just fine on my 51 " Sony HiDef TV.

I haven't seen too many movies lately with DTS included.
