  1. Hello,
I had Ulead DVD factory installed on my computer and lived it and it was working for burning vcds, but I went out and bought a ADS USB Instant DVD capturing device and it came with Ulead video studio, wich I had to install. Now my Ulead Factory wont work,I uninstalled the program but when I try to delete the shortcuts it says something about "access denied" I have also tryed to reinstall it,but it gets half way through and then stops and pops an error up. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a Dell Inspiron 4100,WIn XP..I dont know if that makes a dif.

  2. Try this (I'm guessing, by the way):

    1) Uninstall both programs. If it tells you there are unused files on your machine and it wants to know if you want to delete them, say YES! Reboot your machine.
    2) Go to your Program Files folder and manually delete anything in the Ulead folder (I sure hope you don't have other Ulead apps installed, or this will really mess you up). Reboot your computer.
    3) One last time, under "Add/Remove Software" control panel, make sure there are no Ulead products on your computer. If so, delete them again and reboot your computer.
    4) Test your CD burner -- make sure it still works.
    5) Install the Ulead DVD Movie Factory.

Good luck, and let me know if this works.

  3. One addition to mmitchell_hustion's instrutions when doing a remove and reinstall is to locate and remove ulead32.ini. It is in the \windows\ , \winnt\ ....dependibg on what OS you are running or you can use search.

He's absolutely right! I forgot all about that. Definitely add that step to the process.

  5. Ok first I want to say Thank you very much.

I'm still having some problems, but they may work themselves out.

I've had to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

It will let me use it,but then the second time I goto open it ,it will open and then flash closed..

There is a shortcut that keeps apearing on my desktop,I think this is the base of my problems. I cant delete it,and when I find a way to get rid of it...it comes back. I e-mailed Ulead..but that was days ago and still havent received any help. I also had to redirect the installation the first time to my documents. I then uninstalled it,and reinstalled it. So its not back in my program folder. I tryed to burn a dvd with my pioneer 104,but it was a coaster. I think it might because of how the settings were set. Anyways Please dont give up on me yet.You two have helped alot already, and I really apreciate it.

So any other ideas on why this shortcut on my desktop is messing with stuff,or why the program flashes closed?

  6. Get properties on the shortcut and see what it's pointing at, and let us know.

Also, hate to nag, but did you follow the instructions above completely? Each delete/reboot sequence is VERY important, and then at the end you must kill that .ini file and reboot again. I know it's a pain, but you have to make sure you purge all the stuff out of there.

Also, what OS are you running?

  7. Hello,
I'm at work right now,but I will try to give some more details. I followed the directions to the T,and I even deleted that windows file(ulead.32) . That file isnt there anymore...was it supposed to come back after I reinstalled it?

    I'm running WinXP.

At the moment the shortcut is gone. I tryed to open up Ulead this morning and it does the same thing,I can get the main menue open. But If I select capture, its flashes closed. It will let me open the other 2 options. So its just the capturing one that wont work. I dont capture with it,but thats the option that allows me to open up files and have them converted and such.

So anymore ideas. I'm not given up on this. I loved Ulead DVD factory, and I dont want to have to switch to Nero or anything else. Thanks again for helping me with this. I still havent heard from Ulead
