say 4 out of ten movies which i have ripped are over 4.3gb.
how come you get a little piddley film like mike bassett england manger which is only 85mins long with no special effects at all, and just the movie file is 5.01gb, whilst you can something like bugs life, with loads of effects and about the same length, and the whole dvd including everything is less than 4.3gb?

Sometimes its cause of extras, and extra audio tracks for different languages, different sound types AC3 DTS STERO that sort of stuff, and it can be ripped out. SOMETIMEs its because the encoded it at an insane rate to make it have to take that much space... if that is the case sometimes you can use TMPGenc to reencode the vob files to a lower rate (i prefer at least 4000 if it will fit) and then it will fit fine. Some days its better to do this reencoding with CCE but I haven't tried it yet and TMPGenc is so darned easy to use I'm having problems finding the will to change.... hope that helps.
Usually unless you have to do something fishy the menus will even still work when your done. But beware more and more movies have forced me to give up on the menus and make new ones from scratch cause of little "issues" that somehow sneak in.
