  1. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL THINGS TO CONVERT WMV TO MPG 1 OR 2, MOST DIDN'T WORK AT ALL AND NONE HAVE WORKED VERY WELL.

THE BEST SO FAR (AND IT TAKES WAY TO LONG= STARTS AT ABOUT A MEG A MIN TO FIVE AND SIX TIMES LONGER AS THE PROGRAM SLOWS, LOCKS OR LANGUISHS' ON CERTAIN SEGMENTS) USING TMPGENC STRIAGHT UP WAS IMPOSSBLE SO I TRIED SPLITTING THE AUDIO TO WAVE AND CHANGING THE WMV TO ASF AND THEN JOINING THEM BUT THE TIME IS STILL WAY TO MUCH FOR THE FILE SIZE.....???

    ANYONE GOT ANYTHING BETTER???

    THNX FOR ANY INFO......

For converting wmv to mpg use TMPGEnc v2.0 , you can still download it from tmpgenc.com.

If that doesn't work (which it should, you shouldn't have any problems) then check out this link for a tutoril that shows you how to convert wmv to avi but the avi is uncompressed so the file will be huge

    wmv to avi

    hope this helps...

  3. Thnks for the info I will check it out. I am interested in converting the wmv directly to mpeg2 if possible as wmw to avi to mpeg 2 is obviously a lot of time.

    thnx again

What if you get the "License" error message? I tried VD 1.3 with
an asf file and I recieved an error message about not having
a License? Could this be a codec problem?

    Thanks.
