Svcd to Vcd?

I have an Svcd, it plays fine on my Apex player, but no other player I put it in. I've tried several Svcd's and several different standalone dvd players. I read the post in the main page about how to use Tmpgenc and the Mpeg Tools, but that didnt work for me. If anyone knows how I can downsample this .mpg Svcd to a Vcd that will work in all dvd players let me know or if this is even possible. Thanks
