Ok, what is the trick here. I download a file that shows the following properties under Virtual Dub information file
frame size 640x272
frames 23.97
Now, if I am doing a VCD...do I make the settings the same or do I convert it to normal 352x240 and 29.97 for NTSC (I live in USA).
Should all my video settings be the standard or should I use the ones that the system information gives me.
Also under advance settings, I just leave vga 1:1 and full screen.
oh....what the heck is FILM??

ok, someone respond please.................
Also, for vcd is it better to use 1350 for CBR instead of default 1150...
help needed for above stuff............ -
OK.. U change any of that stuff and you no longer have a standard compliant VCD.
VCD standard is 352x240, 29.97 fps, 1150 kbps vid, 224 kbps aud.
Not everything plays nonstandard....but hey not everything plays standard.
If you up bitrate ...its non-stand and the file will be larger than standard....lower bitrate...smaller file.
The settings you get from origingal file are to help you set the source settings.... Play with these and then click on preview...and see what happens...before you encode. -
i have change the standards and stuff does play still on my daewoo on a regular 36 inch tv set.
as far as source, I make the settings use what the damm thing was recorded...
as far as bitrate.....if I got to use two cd for these conversions....I might as well as up the bitrate to get more quality on each cd since I got 700 megs of space.
I just encoded a file at 640 x 272...23.97....4:3 aspect....I see what happens....at 352 and 240....I get bigger black bands top and bottom (less picture of course)...any thoughts....this is fun....except for the wait. -
You don't have to actually encode to see changes...Goto >file then >preview...that shows what output will be like....
Also adjust the settings under the advanced tab (this is for source) then under video tab (tis is out).
You source sounded close to the 2.11:1 setting then set out to different to see what it does. -
YUCK..............23.97......man this turned out to be a damm slide show....
ok, I get the hint....I going back to 29.97.....and 352x240
damm.... -
the preview on the monitor is different than on the tv. When I play on the tv at 23.97......horrible...really horrible...
so how can you use the preview to help with framerates
