400MB AVI TO MPEG1 (NEED EXPERT OPINION)

I RECENTLY DOWNLOADED JURASSIC PARK3.ITS ABOUT 400MB.IT PLAYS FINE ON MY COMPUTER,BUT WHEN I TRY TO ENCODE WITH TMPEG IT SAYS INVALID FORMAT.I TRIED TMPEG A,B,AND I.THEY ARE EITHER NOT SUPPORTED,OR JUST ENCODE AUDIO.I ALSO TRIED CHANGING THE PRIORITY IN THE ENVIROMENTAL SETTINGS.IF ANYBODY THINKS THEY CAN HELP,I'D LOVE TO HEAR A SOLUTION.

I guess, you need the codec, that is used to compress the avi.

YEA BUT I MUST HAVE THE CODEC IF IT PLAYS ON THE PC.

ripper where did u download it and i'll go and have a look for you as to why it's not converting properly.

I DOWNLOADED IT FROM MORPHEUS,ITS 400MB,BUT ITS A HR AND 40 MIN.

U can try & download the older codec from http://www.doom9.net as I usually get crap using the newer one, dvix 3.11 alpha. This should hopefully sort out your problem.

Check the properties of the avi and see what the resolution (352x240 for NTSC) is, which framerate was used, and which Codec should be used.
