When I tried to play a vcd that I downloaded (the file is in .dat format) I got an error (in the latest wmp, 7.something) "no combination of filters could be found to render the stream" so I searched this forum, and it turned out I needed to download the MPEG2 codec thing in order to play the file, so I did.. and I don't receive the error anymore.
But the movie still does not play properly, when I open it now I receive this: http://www.dizzyweb.net/temp.jpg
I have the same results when I attempt to play the movie in WinDVD or PowerDVD
Please advice..

Try to change the extension of the file from a ".dat" file into an ".mpg" file.

Hi,
There seems to be a lot of stuff on the web, gnutella, newsgroups, etc that contain embedded commands to open your web browser. Is this what is happening? If so, I haven't found a way of stripping this section from the video either.
Anybody got any ideas?

The file is not corrupt, Im pretty sure of that.. other users have found it to be fully operational.
