  1. ok...I used TMPG to encode my avi then I burned to disk with Nero 5.5.8.0.... I then went to playon my stand-alone DVD player, and Video came out great however I am not getting Audio. I added a vcd video track with audio before burning and that audio played ok, so did I do something wrong during encoding or what happened???????

    Thanks,

  2. I just had the same issue. Using a different encoder, and then DVD Workshop to author. The DVD plays fine here on my set top, but on another dvd set top box, no audio.

I'm wondering if it can have anything to do with the audio being in mpg format (instead of pcm) on that machine? Maybe they're using the digital audio and their dvd player won't output the mpg audio that way? Not sure, I'm on the same search.

  3. I had the similar problem using TMPGE and NERO. But I started with a MPEG instead of a AVI. But when I played it in my DVD player, it produce great video but no audio. However I solved my problem by using Project Wizard of TMPGE to encode the my video to VCD. The result was a MPG that had audio when played. I not sure what settings were different when I encode them myself but the wizard produced the audio that I needed. Hope this help someone. I used Nero 5.0.4.8 and TMPG 2.53.35.130.

Hi Don't use separate video and audio with Nero, it will make a mess of things.

Use TMPGENc to make the VCD compliant mpeg.

On the Browse for video, select you AVI/Mpeg
On the Browse for audio, select your wav file

Load a VCD Template, and convert

The output will now be correct for Nero, so it does not need to mess around with the file.

  5. I am having the same issue with the audio. My audio is in mpg format. It plays fine on my PC after I use TMGPEnc. However, when I make a VCD I have no audio. Anyone know how to solve this? I use the suggestions above. Still no luck.

  6. I have noticed that you can be fore warned of this in the tmpgenc window where you split the avi in two (source range). If the audio shows up as a flat line, it won't be present in the end product. This also is warned of when youy open the file with Virtual Dub. So far, extracting the audio with VD as a wav, then recombining it with tmpgenc is the only way I've found around this. Then there is sometimes problems of audio sync.

When saving audio in Vdub, you need to save uncompressed wav, save any other type and it will give further problems.

    --------------------------------------------------
In TMPGEnc, select options > environment settings

Next click the VFAPI tab, Right click Direct Show, and select higher priority, do this until its at the top with a value of 4
    ----------------------------------------------------

Before you can use any AVI, you need to check it for bad frames. Load into Vdub and scan for junk frames, if it finds any, you need to save out a new copy of the AVI using Video > Streaming, Audio > streaming. This will save another copy without the bad frames.

Missing audio can also be down to a audio codec not installed, so it cannot decode it, this can usually be fixed by installing the "Nimo Codec pack"

  8. You Wrote "In TMPGEnc, select options > environment settings

    What does this do?
