  1. I looked at the guide for ripping a DVD to Divx, but it seemed pretty dated. I wanna rip a dvd using the new Divx 5.02 codec. I've heard of GKnot, but I don't know if it's a good program to use.

Basically, I just wanna know how to rip a DVD to Divx with the best possible quality. I'm not really concerned about burning to a VCD right now, I just want a high quality Divx movie to watch on my computer.

    Any help or suggestions?

Gordian Knot is a frontend. Like DVD2SVCD it uses vStrip, dvd2avi, Avisynth, azid, etc. etc.
I suggest to start with the HowTo, that comes with the GordianKnot package. Also I have seen a good guide at doom9.org.
