  1. I am so glad I went to the effort to upgrade to a newer version of Vegas - so I could irreversibly convert my projects to a format that will no longer open in the older Vegas, which at least could render a project from time to time if I am lucky, and deal with this new BS of absolutely no rendering with a completely useless error message that tells me nothing!

My god - how bad can they make this useless crap now?

What the hell is this supposed to mean?

I mean, if they could be honest and just pop up a window that says "We have no clue how to make a working version of this software, so go screw yourself", at least I could somewhat respect that...

Those generic errors usually mean something in the system is to blame -
    For example,

    shortage of disk space.
    Restricted path - file/folder permissions
    %appdata% (settings) corrupted
    A/V is interfering

  3. Use Voukoder export plugin to get mp4. If I need mp4 (AAC audio /H.264 video) I use that only, not Vegas renderer for many reasons.

Download last release for that Vegas: https://github.com/Vouk/voukoder-ffmpeg/releases/tag/20240101
Download connector for Vegas 21: https://github.com/Vouk/voukoder-connectors/blob/master/vegas/connector-vegas21-1.7.1.msi?raw=true
    Install that release.
    Install that connector.
Open Vegas, it should show Voukoder as a render option

    youtube video about install: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr1uiRn4wcM
In that video it is explained where and how to download things. Unfortunately that is not aplicable anymore, because the author made a new Pro version, pay version. So those old and free, working things are not for download on his website but rather still available on github only, using links as I posted.
