  1. No matter what software program I use; I can never capture higher than 352x240 with out losing frames. If I bump it up to 352x480 or 480x480 I lose frames. Any thing else higher and I still lose frames.

    My system specs are:

    Athlon 1gz processor
    384 MB ram
    40 gig 7200 rpm ata 66 HD
ATI AIW Pro 32MB vid card

Is my card a piece of junk. My system works great for everything else.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. in win9x use the 4.12.6292 drivers and MMC 7.1.
    in win2k use the 5.xx.xx.192 drivers/MMC 7.1.

in win9x it's actually helpful to install "drivers, MMC 6.3, MMC 7.1 to a new directory, DVD 4.1" in that order. MMC 6.3 setup won't work right in all cases but you will have the VFW capture drivers you want. are you capturing MPEG or AVI? how many frames? if it's like 1 every 5 minutes it's no big deal, it may not even be a lost frame, but a resync of audio/video. if the ATI software says you're dropping <1% that's no big deal, probably lost one in the first second while it was setting up, but the message never goes away.

capture to a partition (preferably drive) other than the one with the windows swap file on it. in 3rd party programs use YUV2 or UYVY as the capture format, never RGB (it wastes cpu to convert)
