What exactly is the advantage of the tape index creation in Scenalyzer 4.0?
I want to capture tons of analog videos such as VHS, Betamax and VCC, connected with advc 55.
In my case the direct control to a VHS device wouldn't work.
Automatically rewind and forward to the tape position, if I click on a scene, that would be a great advantage....

AFAIK tape index or direct control only applies to a direct DV camcorder connection and not an analogue(VHS etc) to dv conversion hence the term a ADVC.

Probably. Tape index, I would have throught, refers to the program marking the DV.avi with the time-stamps on an original dv tape. There are no time-stamps generated from an analogue to digital(dv) conversion. Manually stop the tape, forward it and transfer from the new place should result in a new avi and not the contunation of the old.

Scenalyzer has an optical scene detection mode for capturing this sort of video stream (Page 35 of the manual refers). Capture the whole tape in one go and let Scenalyzer split it. I don't know whether it splits on the fly during the actual recording or you set it up later.

Note that timecodes may or may not reset at each recorded scene.
