Inconsistent MDS file creation with ISO creation in ImgBurn

When making an ISO from a DVD. ImgBurn 2580. I have the appropriate checkbox default for MDS checked in Settings. Sometimes the MDS file is auto-generated along with the ISO, and often not. This is happening across a few different computers and versions of Windows. I'm not seeing any pattern to it. It is possible to create the MDS file separately, after the fact, from the menu function. What am I missing here ?

If necessary, I could take this to the ImgBurn forum, which does still seem to be active. (?)

MDS file is a file that contains information about the ISO file. If you are going to do a d/l burner then inside the .mds file is the info about the layer break. It is similiar to the .ifo file. I always keep the .mds file

So, the MDS file is only for making ISOs of dual-layer discs ? I happened to make one yesterday -- it was slightly too large to fit on a single-layer DVD -- and the MDS file was created. That would seem to explain the inconsistent result.

MDS is just a verification hash. Has nothing to do with proper burnability or not.

Don't know why it's not creating it, but usually that shouldn't affect the expected outcome. Me, I never use the mds, because I already know both the expected max capacity and the layerbreak, so it is only one in every hundred where a disc doesn't burn properly.

I am not interested in MDS,i don't even think it helps much.
