  1. Using staxrip 2.8.0 – I want to encode vob files to xvid avi. In the encoder settings when I select ffpeg-xvid and avi I get the following error message – ‘the encoder outputs ‘mkv’ but the container AVI supports only avi, mp2, mp3, ac3, mpa, wav’. I don’t understand why I get the error message or what it means. I have been previously using staxrip 1.2.2.0 and used the same settings without problems. I am not rencoding the orginal ac3 audio. Is it possible to encode vob files to xvid avi using staxrip 2.8.0. Please help.

  2. You can also use clever Ffmpeg-GUI to recode vob (mpeg2) to xvid an mux the new videostream with the original audiostream to AVI.

  3. Has to be a bug. I tried it myself and no go, even with mp3 audio.
You can use ffmpeg manually or some other tool.

  4. Thanks for the replies.
I have installed clever Ffmeg-GUI, giving it ago and still getting use to it.
Using clever Ffmpeg-GUI can I select a predefined bitrate output when Encoding VOB files to xvid?

  5. Use the bitrate you like. For the beginning the preselected bitrate should be fine.
