Today, my company asked me to setup a DVR card. It's divided into two parts. First, I've to find a driver for the device, so that the OS may communicate and work with the device. Second, there should be an API (for C/C++) to communicate programmatically with the driver and use its capabilities and functionalities.

I attach pictures of the card.

AOP-4216 and AX8612-AV16N are my only clues, but I couldn't find any driver or SDK in the net. The seller didn't provide any driver. Only a CD is in the box along with the card. There's also no clue on the box. I need the driver and SDK for both Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 20.04.

After installing the board on my system, lspci gives the following info about it:

08:01.0 Multimedia controller: Xilinx Corporation Spartan 3 Designs (Xilinx IP)
BYO, what should be the next step?

The CD is unreadable. I contacted the agent who bought the hardware and he said he would follow to receive a correct CD, but I think the CD will have nothing to do with Linux, as on the box, the only OS mentioned was Windows XP! There should be an online source. It should have a manufacturer anyway and some company should be responsible for it.

The first step for running the DVR card under WINE is to run it under Windows. Even Windows can't find a proper driver for it. I examined Windows 7 and searched for the driver in Windows Update (online drivers from Microsoft itself).

I found webpages featuring an AOP-4216 DVR card resembling your card and a page with a software CD for Windows 2000/XP/Vista. One page noted a brand, Anpuwei.

The card seems to be rather old and is probably out of production. Why do you believe Linux drivers and an SDK exist for this card?

@october262: There's no software to be run man! At the first step, we need a driver which we don't have. I'm looking for it and come here to discuss about it.
@usually_quiet: Thanks. I'll investigate in them.

@usually_quiet: They're just sellers of the product. They can't technically support what I need, a driver and an SDK for Linux.

There are older devices for which the manufacturer provided no Linux drivers and for which members of the Linux community have not written drivers either. Do you have any reason to believe that Linux drivers and an SDK exist for this card?

Surely not. I just hope that it may exist.
