  1. what are my options for converting this (dvd-rip)divx avi file

    here are the stats
    it's 89 minutes
the bitrate is 1066kb (I think -That's what it said on Imesh)

I know I can split it and put it on two cdr's

I know I can change the bitrate and put it on 1 cd-r, but I'll lose quality right? and would that be what they call a xvcd?

What I don't know is anything about doing this as svcd.
Is that even possible/logical because of the bitrate ?

I'm a little confused! Up until now I've only done basic vcd's

Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance VCD4ME

  2. You only specified the length and bitrate, what about resolution ? PAL/NTSC ? but to answer your question, although you can do this as SVCD, and put it on two CD's, you'd be better off using standard VCD and putting it on a single 90 min CDR (if your recorder supports it).

The reason is, your bitrate is low, and i'm guessing the resolution will also match VCD, so if you convert it to SVCD, you will not gain any "quality" but you will make all the blocks look even bigger.

  3. My recorder(TDK121032)and software(nero) both supprt 90 minutes but the disc are expensive. I've also I've read that some of te pioneer players have problems with them.(mine is pioneer 434).Maybe I'll buy a few just to try out.

    the resolution is 640x272

Here is a new quetion if I cut the credits- then the file will only be
    83 minutes.

What about overburning a 80 min cdr? is this possible?

  4. The only Pioneer I know that can't read the entire 90min is the 525 which is very old, and i'll presume also older or same year models, it can read upto 89min or a bit more.

You can try to overburn the 80min to 83min, but you better get a good media and also try reading the entire movie from the media before you delete it from your HDD, you don't want to find out at the end that not the entire movie is playable.
