My problem is a strange one
using a laser disc that norml 4:3 format but the movie is in Letterbox ratio
now using a usb graber with Magix the picture and sound come on the screen and look normal the setup shows 720*480 29.9 sound ( also tried 640+480 )
but when the file is played back its way way streached width like a 16*9

power director finds the device and shows all is correct but no picture or sound
i sent them this but so far no joy

if someone would sort out these two problem i woyuld apreciated it
    regards to all

  2. You have to specify the Display Aspect Ratio (DAR) to 4:3.
If your videofile is x264 encoded, you can change this DAR setting without reencoding with MKVToolnix or clever FFmpeg-GUI or other programs.

    according to this - https://www.magix.info/us/forum/can-t-capture-vhs-to-4-3--1221061/
720x576 is not strictly 4:3 - it is 5:4 AR

  9. I think the video must be cropped before encoding.
Cut a litte piece (30secs) of your video and post it here. So we can analyze it and give your the right settings.
You can cut it with g.e. Avidemux

  12. 720x576 at 25 fps is the international standard for capturing analog PAL video, for both 4:3 and 16:9 sources. It's also used on PAL DVD and SD Blu-ray. It just needs to be flagged and played properly.
