Hi there. I'm new to the world of VHS to digital file transferring, but have learned quite a bit in the past couple of days. I have a VHS tape from 1983 of my 5th birthday party. We hired a camera person to make a video. I'm now trying to put up a link for my family and old friends who are in the video and have never seen it before. I would really appreciate some help please.

I bought a $25 VHS conversion device from amazon ( some ezcapture device). I hooked it up to my computer using brand new A/V cables (yellow, white, red composite). I'm using VIRTUALDUB to capture and save the files. The problem I'm having is these horizontal lines that appear randomly in the video (PLEASE SEE PICTURE). After the deinterlacing filter is applied, the lines remain. The problem does NOT occur when connecting my VCR to my plasma TV using the composite cables. As you can see in the enlarged picture bellow, I've added a deinterlacing filter which gets rid of the actual deiterlacing issues, but these lines still appear throughout the entire 50 minute video.

Does anyone have an idea as to why I'm getting these lines? Any solutions? Thank you.

Another easycrap thread, I think you pretty much answered your question, Directly to TV works fine, Easycrap doesn't work, does that ring a bell?

So, is this the absolute only reason for the lines? Is there any way around this, or will those lines always be there with my current "easycrap" setup?
