I have tried to make a VCD, SVCD, and DVD of this movie. In all the sound is about 8 sec behind the picture. I used SmartRipper, DVD2AVI, Tmpeg. Each time my Mpeg file is out of sync. I did rip as backup, but I am trying to create only the movie file. Could this cause a sync problem? No problem with any other movies, just this one. Any help apreciated.

Always use smartripper in "movie" mode. Backup mode does introduce sync problems on some discs.

also, at least one of the versions of dvd2avi have been giving ppl sync problems when they use force film on it (i believe made it 24 fps, rather than 23.976 fps, which will gradually make your audio outta sync in your rip)
not sure which version, but u can try switching versions...
only do this if ripping in "movie mode" in smartripper doesn't solve your problem
