  1. Hi folks,
I've captured an hours worth of a documentary I want to encode as MPEG2. I've successfully done this for another one - should be the same, right? Wrong! TMPGEnc now won't open the files properly, and on another machine refuses to open them at all. It also won't play them back in Media player. So, I guess what I'm asking is, how to I install the Matrox MJPEG codec on another machine, and how do I force TMPGEnc to use this codec and not another? Please help! Oh, and I've tried installing the Huffyuv codec, which went fine, but still the files don't open properly in WMplayer!!! Help!

  2. Unfortuately, Matrox mjpeg is hardware based and will only play on another machine that has a Matrox mjpeg based card. Best solution I can give you is to use vdub and convert it to divx.

  3. I've played back the MJPEGs on other machines without the R/Runner before tho! I'm prettu sure all I did was install a codec, as I had done it on at least two other machines. Now if only I could remember what codec it was! Anyhow, thanks four you help.

  4. Important fix for Matrox MJPEG AVIs:

    > Try moving the 'AVI VFW compatibility reader' to the top in 'environmental
    > settings' (keep right clicking it, higher priority).

Something for a FAQ, perhaps, eh? ;)

Worked for me! Now how do I get the codec to work with Virtualdub?
