I've been ripping a few things with MakeMKV lately, but there's something extra I've been wanting to do for ages. Basically, I want to rip the first 2 seasons of 24, and cut out all the bullshit scenes with Jack's daughter, so I can just watch the main story. What's the easiest way to do that? I prefer not to re-encode and lose video quality, but I guess I'll eventually need to run some of this stuff through Handbrake. Even with ~17TB free, I can't rip that much without recoding.

The title of your post says " Easiest way to drop some scenes from an MEPG2?" but then you talk about MakeMKV which infers they are now in a MKV container? If you have the original MPEG2 files then almost any video editor will let you cut scenes out without subsequently re-encoding. Womble, AVIDemux, https://www.videohelp.com/software/Cuttermaran , https://www.videohelp.com/software/VideoReDo If you only have the MKV files then it's somewhat harder to do clean cuts where you want them. See Womble it's a MPG video editor and does smart rendering. https://www.videohelp.com/software/MPEG-Video-Wizard-DVD

  3. Yeah, go back to your DVDs and open them in VobBlanker. It has the ability to cut out what you want (on GOP boundaries, which should suit you fine) and still leave the DVD structure intact. Here's a guide:

Then afterwards, if you want, you can use MakeMKV on it.
