    Hi folks,
I have material on two DVDs which I'd like to put together on a single DVD without re-encoding. I'm using a 2015 iMac running El Capitan and have Toast Titanium. Any ideas? Thanks!

First question would be if they can even fit on a single or dual layer DVD.

Thanks for the reply. I'll want to compile the material I transfer from various disks onto single and dual layer DVDs, depending on the size of the clips, but with no compression or re-encoding.

If the two DVD's will fit onto your target disc without re-encoding, you might be able to do this with DVDStyler.

You can do "cuts" in DVDStyler without re-encoding

Thanks for your help. I'm now using DVD Styler but the option to not transcode the clips is unavailable and the whole point of the exercise was to avoid re-encoding. Help!

Btw I'll pay for software that does what I want it to do without hassle, I'm not necessarily restricting myself to freeware.

  8. As I understand you want to use some material from the two DVDs and use that to author a new DVD. Then

    - Use MakeMKV to extract Titles.

    - Should you need the material on chapter level use MKVToolNix to extract chapters.

    - Author with DVDStyler and make further cuts if needed.

This is all without re-encode. I think you misunderstand the transcode/re-encode in DVDStyler. When DVDStyler shows "Copy" on the property sheets as shown below no re-encode is done. The box "Do not remultiplex/transcode" may be greyed out as a remultiplex is needed but that's not a re-encode.

  9. The problem is mac os . Plenty of freeware and payware options to do it on windows without problems.

Another way you might be able to do it is with the mac version of avidemux to cut your clips , then append also with avidemux. Everything has to be cut on keyframes for it to work, and it might not work at all because avidemux can be flaky

There is another possible problem which has not been addressed yet. Compatibility of the source DVDs' video systems. PAL and NTSC DVD video can't be mixed on the same disc. Unless both source DVDs are PAL or both are NTSC, it will be necessary to re-encode the clips from one of them.
