  1. I have ripped a region 1 disc using DVD2AVI, then encoded it using an NTSC wizard for SVCD in TMPGEnc. Both of these parts cause no problem at all and the resultant file when played on the computer plays perfectly. The problem comes when I burn it using DVD Movie Factory. The disc has audio out of sync with the picture and the picture although the quality is fine does not play smoothly on either my standalone DVD or the drives in my computer. Any ideas?

  2. Are you burning a DVD or SVCD? If it's a DVD use the DVD-NTSC template in TMPGEnc.....

Also before burning it, grab the TS_Video folder and try playing it using WinDVD or whatever program you normally use. It saved me from making coasters......

  3. I know there is an audio synch-fix patch for DVD Workshop, but I have no idea about any similar patch for DVD Movie Factory.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. Thanks for your replies. But for your info it's a SVCD I'm burning. When I used DVD2AVI I did tell it to use 'force film' settings as it was a cartoon. Don't know if this makes any difference?

Noticed someone else had a problem with Force Film option. When they didn't use it, it worked better...

Play your MPEG2 file in Windows Media Player, then right click on the filename in the playlist and select Properties. If you see Ligos as the Video decoder, that's the problem (or Elecard, others have reported).

You'll need to get DXMan (freeware) and unregister the offending Ligos encoder from your system (you don't need to uninstall). You'll find that your synch problems should go away when you then process the file in TMPGENC...

Ligos doesn't decode the stream properly. SOB drove me nuts for about a week, then I saw a thread that helped me out.

  7. Apply this patch www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws_ftp.htm and it should correct the problem. The patch says it is for DVD WorkShop & hardware encoder but it works with DVD Movie Factory also. I had a sync problem and the patch solved it.

  8. Thanks for the help. I've already tried the Movie Factory add-on and it didn't make any difference. I'll have a go with DXMAN as the codec says it is Ligos. Any ideas where to find it tho'

Just to clarify a point - make sure you apply the DVD WorkShop patch not the DVDMF patch correct. I have been using the Ligos, Ulead's GoMotion LSX3.5, enocders with no problem.

Although the description does not include DVDMF the patch works for both as per Ulead."FYI, for the AV sync problem of DVD Workshop, We have a beta patch posted on our web site: http://www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws_ftp.htm. The patch also
    works for DVD MovieFactory".

  12. Thanks for your help everyone. I disabled the LIGOS CODECS including the Ulead ones and everything seems okay at the moment. I've just done a PAL coding and sync is fine. I'll let you know about NTSC when I do one.

Which codecs are showing up as the ones used to decode your MPEG2 when you play it under WMP?
