Avidemux is mirroring my video file

Hello guys,

I've rendered a 1 minute video file I've captured with my DSLR to uncompressed .AVI using Sony Vegas, using same fps and resolution as the original. Playing the uncompressed .AVI with VLC gives me a normal output.

After importing the uncompressed .AVI into Avidemux, and rendering the file into mp4/h264, when played my compressed mp4 video file is mirrored upside down. Is this a common error ? How should I attempt to fix this ? I'm running Avidemux 2.6.9 on Windows 7 64Bit.

Yes.

How should I attempt to fix this ?

Apply the vertical flip filter. Or try a different editor.

Forgive me for asking but eh, why not just render H.264 straight from Vegas?

@jagabo - it works when I rotate it and flip it, looks normal afterwards - thanks for your reply.

@newpball - because when I render mp4/h.264 with Avidemux, I get much better control of H.264's variables.

Yes I'd like to achieve maximum quality from my video files and Sony's AVC doesn't cut it, for some reason quality isn't that good.With Avidemux I am achieving good quality.

So I take it you use Vegas for things like color correcting your footage?

I know it's not the best editor for doing even the simplest of editing, like color correction, etc ... But it's the one I know the best. Yes, I prefer using Sony Vegas because I know how to properly use the program.

Nothing wrong with Vegas!

An editor is simply a tool, you can do great things with it but also mess up big time and that seldom depends on the tool.
