I'm not a windows 8 user (actually I don't use windows much anymore period) but the update may have just included generic video drivers that don't work properly with your hardware. Try searching for the correct ones.

Have you tried uninstalling PowerDirector 11 and re-installing?

    Hoser Rob:
Apparently, Intel HD graphic control panel is installed. I chose to reset the settings, and now videos on YouTube and ASUSDVD works fine.

    usually_quiet:
PowerDirector will still not begin the production of an MPEG4 video. H.264 AVC (.m2ts) works fine. I have deleted and re-installed PowerDirector.

I would suggest that you create a thread about your problem with PowerDirector 11 in Cyberlink's forums too, since uninstalling and re-installing didn't help.

Which is the problem, .mp4 or MPEG4? MPEG4 is different than .mp4. .mp4 is a container that can be used with several common video formats including H.264 and MPEG-2. MPEG-4 is a video specification covering VC-1, DivX, XVid, and H.264 and some other kinds of video in different parts of the specification.

[Edit] I don't have PowerDirector 11, so I used PowerDirector 9 (with Windows 7, since it doesn't work with Windows 8 at all) to see what you are talking about. According to MediaInfo "Produce MPEG-4" creates MPEG-4 (Sony PSP) video (which I have no past experience with) in an .mp4 container. Is that what you have? I'm guessing the MPEG-4 video itself is similar to XVid.

I will make a post in the Cyberlink forum.

I think I know what you're saying about containers and formats. The MPEG-4 option in PowerDirector in a .mp4 file, with an MPEG-4 AVC video codec. The H.264 AVC option is an .m2ts file, with an MPEG-4 AVC video codec. The MKV option is MPEG-4 AVC as well. PowerDirector will not start producing MKV either. So it's probably a container issue more than a video codec issue (because a .m2ts file works fine).

    THANK YOU for your replies!
