  1. Hi,

    Half a year ago I bought a Canon Legria HF M52, and I've enjoyed it a lot. Now I've recorded some video in AVCHD format, and imported it to my PC.

    I want to edit the videos in Adobe Premiere Pro, but I don't know which AVCHD preset to choose when making a new sequence. Premiere has several presets to choose from, as you can see in this screen shot:

    Which preset should I use?

    You can read about the camera here: http://www.trustedreviews.com/canon-legria-hf-m52_Camcorder_review

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

  2. It says that AVCHD in that camcorder has 5 AVCHD modes:
    Code:
    5 AVCHD recording quality modes.¹
    MXP: 1920x1080, 24Mbps;²
    FXP: 1920x1080, 17Mbps;²
    XP+: 1440x1080, 12Mbps;
    SP: 1440x1080, 7Mbps;
    LP: 1440x1080, 5Mbps
    2 MP4 quality recording modes
    1280 x 720, 9Mbps;
    1280 x 720, 4Mbps,
    so check your camcorder what you had set up in your camcorder or use program like Mediainfo in PC to find out if it is 1440x1080 anamorphic video or 1920x1080 or just import it into premiere and there you should read some properties for video

  3. Thanks for responding, Al!

    When I check the properties for video, it says:
    - Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    - Frame Rate: 25,00
    - Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0

    I have little knowledge about these things, but it doesn't look like this gives me enough information to know which preset to choose.

  4. Is it 25 fps interlace or progressive? That is one more info you need.

  5. Premiere Pro makes it really easy. It doesn't matter how you initially create your project. Just grab one of your clips and drop it on the create new sequence icon and it will create a new sequence matching the clip's properties. (It's worth taking a look to see what they are.)
