  1. Please help with Jaggy video and block noise in converting from DV to mpeg 2. Using CBR 2500 and 720X480. Everything else is default.
    Any opinions?

    evening stephenlnoe,

You haven't mentioned what your source is.
    * vhs/dvd/cable/sat/home cams, etc.

I'm afraid that (bome) that a cbr of 2500 and a resolution
of 720x480 isn't gonna be enough for your mpeg-2 quality.
Maybe, just maybe, if your source was a dvd, maybe so, but
definately not if it's from a "home made cam" from your dv
camera. And, even worse, is if your source is a vhs.
vhs is only ~352x240, and going higher, even if done by your
dv cam is not gonna do it. I tried this just as a test.

If your dv footage is based on "home made" video, I'd check
w/ your lighting for one, and LOWER your resolution to like,
480x480, or 352x480, or 352x240 ...something like that for
    your mpeg-2 encodes.

And, start reading the convertion guides to your left for
starters also. Look in the GREEN area. also might wanna look
in the "What is" (blue area)

    That's about it for now.

  3. he said the source was DV.

You're bitrate is too low for DVD. Try CBR at 6000 and use Highest Quality and your jaggies will disappear. Once in a blue moon I have to use deinterlace setting, but thats rare.

Try that and tell us what happens.

  4. Unfortunately my DVD player will only support 2500 bit rate from CDR and I don't have a DVD burner. The DVD's I've ripped using dvd2svcd with TMPGenc 2.53 as my encoding engine have been stellar @ 1600 (2pass VBR). I'm trying to get as smooth a quality of motion from my DV. All help is appreciated.
