  1. I have some NTSC mpeg-2 files that I wish to convert to PAL format using TMPGEnc. Now I have done this successfully in the past with no problems. Likewise, I also wanted to convert some of the mpeg-2 files to smaller DIVX files using EO Video which I have done before, as I found this was simple and effective.

Only now, TMPGEnc won't accept mpeg-2 files at all, either simply shutting itself down with no error message or even shutting my computer down. I have already tried changing the VFAPI settings with no effect. With EO Video, whenever I ask it to try and convert mpeg-2 files to anything else, it simply pops up an ActiveMovie window which plays a few seconds of the mpeg-2 file, and then stops trying to convert the file.

I'm sure that the two problems are related, but I have no idea what the problem is. I have used different mpeg-2 decoders with the same results with both TMPGEnc & EO Video, and have even reinstalled windows to flush out any conflicting codecs I might have.

Anyone have any ideas on what's up with my mpeg-2 files? Any help would naturally be appreciated!

jtalpur - Can you post a screen shot of your MPEG2 file on GSpot? If you obtained this file from a capturing system, mainly on DVB then it might not be compatible with TMPG... Some reason TMPG can't handle MPEG2 streams from capture cards but it can handle MPEG2 streams from camera.
