I have been using Xmedia Recode to convert my MKV files to MP4 to play on my itunes. I have been copying video and converting audio to AAC compatible with itunes. Everything was fine for the past few months, but now Xmedia recode refuses to convert audio. No matter which codec I choose for audio (AAC, MP3, AC3...), it will not convert. When I do check the properties of the finished video, it shows audio bitrate as 3 kbps and when I play the file, there is no audio whatsoever.

I also use handbrake, and the audio conversion on that still works fine.

What did I mess up? A few days ago I downloaded virtual dub for mpeg isntalled "x264vfw_37_2200bm_33968.exe" to be able to open mpeg files in vdub, and that is when Xmedia recode stopped converting audio (I believe).

Have you updated xmedia recode? If so maybe try an older version and see how it works.
