I have a DVD that is badly authored and once the movie ends it just plain stops, instead of going back to the menu. I have tried DVDRemake Pro but I haven't been able to do it right, going to the movie file and adding a command so it goes back to the menu didn't work and the result just makes impossible to play the video because clicking the menu buttons just gets me back to the menu. What should be the proper way to do it? Thanks in advance.

So you were able to get to the menu by some post-command but button commands stopped working? Do those buttons work at first playback? If they do, there could be some condition in first play PGC to block normal playback at skipping the official warning, etc. And e.g. that condition might be checked in the menu's navigation commands. Sometimes the reason is much more simple: if a 'Call VMG PGC' command doesn't have 'resume cell 1' option, some players (like MP Classic) just stop. So first you could have a look at the command you've used. Or try to 'export test DVD' (that's small file size) of the original structure and post it.

If that file was playing before your changes, but did not go back to menu at the end of the title, just load back original file. Run Debug, once you go through all the cells of the title and come to post command section do Debug step by step and stop before last command, right it down and click on it than.
Post last command and what happened after.
If you want to post like Alex_ander say, run test and after hide all the Title cells. File will be quite small.
There is a way to do this in PgcEdit, which will export only functional command structure. if you are familiar with that software.Last edited by tinker; 20th Dec 2012 at 19:18.

Thanks for your replies! No, I wasn't able to get back to the menu after playing it. To be graphic:
DVD before DVD Remake: Menu -> press Play -> movie plays fine to the end -> disc stops.
What I did: Menu > pres Play > still on Menu.
So I'm getting you guys the test DVD export (of the DVD as I encountered it, without me modifying anything) so you can check the problem by yourselves and give me the best workaround. -
Here is your fix.
Chenge "EXIT" command to what you see in the picture, it should work. EXIT comand will do what you see now. -
I'm about to try that, tinker, thanks! Will it work for the trailer included too? It does the same thing.
-
Oh, and where can I find the "Call "root" menu (resume cell 1)" option? I'd guess selecting Jump/Call instructions would give that option, but it doesn't...
-
Double click on "EXIT" command. New window will open, see first picture . For Trailer you need to go to WMG PGC1, see picure second picture.
-
It worked for the main feature, but not for the trailer. Maybe the parameters should be different?
-
I assume that the trailer is in VTS2 PGC 1 (title 1), because that where it leads when I click on Trailer button.
Did you put (Call VMG PGC 1 (resume cell 1) command in there instead of EXIT command.
I tried Debug in Remake and PgcEdit and both work fine with those commands. -
Oh, I made it work now. I foolishly applied the same parameters to the trailer than to the movie (menu type #3 instead of #1). Thanks a lot for your help!
