I've haven't done much in the way of authoring, but I am reasonably familiar with DVD Shrink, VOB Blanker, VOB Edit, IFO Edit, etc., but I'm having trouble trying to achieve this.

Sometimes I reauthor DVDs to put a few smaller titles together to save space, etc., and can do this with no hassle. The problem is, one of my Stand-Alones is a Magnavox DVD Recorder and it's a little quirky at times. Soemtimes when you put compiled DVDs like these into it, it locks up the machine totally when it gets to the end of the last title on the DVD. You then have to unplug it to rest and release the disc. I found that by editing the VTS_01_0.IFO when there is only one title using IFO-Edit and looping the title, it doesn't do this (found a tutorial on how to do this here).

However, trying various combinations of commands in changing the VTS_PGCITI - Video Title Set Program Chain Information Table -> PGC Command Table, I can't seem to edit the VTS_05_0.IFO to get it to loop back to the first title -- it only seems to loop back on itself.

From searching around, it seems that it may need an extra few commands that I don't know OR possibly using a different piece of software. If I can't get this to work, it's no big deal and I can burn the compiled disc(s) as is, but would prefer to have a go at fixing this.

    Can anyone help???

    Thanks!

  2. Hi,

Here's one way that should work. Open the DVD in PGCEdit and double-click the last video on the DVD. Look over to the right side for the Post Commands at the bottom of the list of commands. If there is none, right-click on the post commands line and "Add After" to create a NOP. I suspect, based on what you said, that there isn't a post command. If there is one, then double-click on it. If you had to create a new NOP, double-click on it. In the new screen go Alphabetically->Call SS FP->OK, and either the NOP or the former post command will have changed so it goes back to the original First Play when done.

Turn on the Trace (up at the top, Trace->Trace Mode), and at the bottom keep hitting "Next PB" to work your way through the videos and back to the beginning. Once you've created a complete cycle without it having stopped you should be good to go. Save the DVD (File->Save DVD is one way) and test it in PowerDVD or whatever software player you have before burning to disc and testing in the standalone.

If something goes wrong, just replace the IFOs that PGCEdit automatically saves for you (File->Backups->Restore Backup) and you're no worse off than you were when you started. And this method is a heck-of-a-lot easier than is messing around in IFOEdit. In my opinion.

  4. Good, I'm glad, since I gave you a wrong instruction that you figured out anyway. Instead of double-clicking that last video, just single-click or highlight it to see the list of commands on the right side. I apologize if that slowed you down a bit. Double-clicking opens a completely unrelated window. I'm correcting myself for the benefit of anyone else that stumbles across this thread trying to do something similar.
