Hey all,
I'm using DVDFab 8 to convert my Blu-ray to DVD. It does create the VIDEO_TS folder, with the VOBs in there. It plays fine on my computer, but not on a standalone Philips DVD player. I've tried simply dragging the folder to my DVD's drives icon, resulting in fine play on my computer; no go on the standalone. The same happens if I use DVDLab Pro to burn the DVD.
I'm using Win 7, Home. On my old computer, running XP Home, all always went as it should.
Any advice? Might I need better software for burning? Am I not preparing something properly?
Thanks again,
Justin

Fritzi93 has got the right information for you. I tried out the DVDFab BD-->DVD converter last year. It was the worst conversion I saw (comparing several different programs), and probably ranks right up there as one of the worst for picture quality I've ever seen going to dvd.

Hm. What I've tried:
Using BDRB to import a MP4 > DVD5
Here's the error log:

Your original post:
Then you say:
You're not a clueless newbie. Those are NOT the same thing. Get your story straight. Do you want help with trying to convert a BluRay to DVD or are you trying to convert MP4 to DVD? If you're doing both then I would say don't start a post about wanting help with X and then change in mid stream to wanting help with Y when X is still not solved. -
It failed on muxing the audio and video streams. You should have the ac3 and m2v files in the working files folder. Examine them with MediaInfo and see if there is anything obviously wrong. You can also try playing them in a media player. In my experience, BD Rebuilder doesn't fail very often when muxing or making dvd-structure.

After looking at the log above, I am wondering if the real problem is with audio. It seems to me that the source audio is AAC and this is invalid for DVD. I find it suspicious that the log says "keeping original audio" which would certainly be a problem if that original audio is AAC. It looks like the video re-encode worked fine which leads me to wonder about the audio part of it.

That's what it looks like to me.
This:
- Converting audio, Track #02, AAC to AC3...
Then this:
- Keeping original audio
So of course this:
- ERROR in attempt to mux (MPLEX)Pull! Bang! Darn! -
I still think the answer is in the files found in the working folder. If there is an ac3 file in there, the conversion took place. It may not be done properly of course.
When making the "psuedo" blu ray, I've found that BD Rebuilder does this part very quickly if the original input had audio that was already compliant to blu ray specifications. The longest I've seen is three minutes to make this temporary structure. The log file shows 11 minutes to make this particular one, so it should have been converting to AC3 in this first step. Keeping the original audio refers to the psuedo blu ray audio, which should be this newly minted AC3 file.
Does anyone know what BD Rebuilder uses for AAC to AC3 conversion? When I do this step in AVStoDVD, the Wavi + Aften option almost always screws up and it reverts to ffmpeg. -
