    Interesting.

Not familiar with this device so maybe it would help future readers if you described the precise process you used to achieve the end result - I did read elsewhere that you have to edit some settings file.

I still have some NTSC tapes that I will - one day - digitize. While I can do this using my Hauppuage PCI card (with a little tweaking) if there is a more efficient way (and gives better results) then I would certainly like to know about it.

I also noticed that you have a Transport-Stream file whereas I would have expected a Program-Stream one.

That's just it. I've been going at this off and on for weeks.
I was told that is all depends on how you installed WinTV. At the beginning of the install process it asks you whether you want an NTSC install or PAL install. I'm guessing that is for TV tuning though. I installed PAL and could not get PAL60 to work.
I installed NTSC....for some reason that also would not work WITH MY NTSC VHS MACHINE.
    Now I'm pissed.
There was a dll file available that you could stick in the WinTV install folder to make PAL60 available. That also did not work for me.
Someone at the Hauppauge.co.uk message board suggested a simple upgrade of WinTV7. They said that the PAL60 option was clearly visible and available in this latest version.....but as you suggested....it's not very easily found.
When you set up the "channels" in the device, you can set the Composite and S-Video inputs to PAL60. So I am guessing that if I want to go back to straight PAL capturing...I'll need to delete the Composite and S-Video "channels" which are now set for PAL60 and re-do them as straight PAL. It's not difficult at all if you know your way around WinTV....but it could be a bit daunting for a newbie.
There is also a setting where you can have WinTV convert the TS file to straight MPEG2. I normally have this option checked but I simply forgot to check it in my haste to test the PAL60 capture.

    Thanks for that.

If I read you correctly. there is still some 'tweaking' involved ie when you come to do a real PAL capture. Maybe you can update this topic at that time.

Not really. I'm in Germany so PAL is what I normally capture and I've been capturing PAL with this stick for quite a while now. It's the occasional NTSC tape(in my PAL machine) that has been causing me problems.
My PAL machine is a Philips VR1100 with TBC (a JVC clone).....so I obviously want to stick to my better machine.
