G'day all
I bought an HDMI to DVI Cable but it has no filters. I have always used video cables with filters on them. I'm wandering if the lack of filters would cause any damage to my screen or video card. I'm using a 22" Samsung LED monitor. Would this cable be OK to use?
Thanks for any answers.
John

No, a cable without ferrite beads won't hurt your electronics. The purpose of the beads is to reduce high frequency noise transmission. With digital data that's less important than with analog.

It prevents noise from the device entering the cable where the cable acts as a transmitting antenna. And it prevents noise from the cable, acting as a receiving antenna, entering the device.
That is what happens when there's too much noise or signal loss on DVI and HDMI connections. It may or may not be helped by a cable with chokes. If the OP isn't seeing that (and he didn't mention it) he need not worry about the cable.Last edited by jagabo; 24th Jun 2012 at 10:50.

Thank you all very much for your educational answers. I was concerned about it. This cable is to connect my spare PCs.
Thanks and Regards
