  1. Hey, I recently installed the CCCP codec pack to get a couple of .avi s to work, which they did.
But since then when I try to open a burned dvd .VOB file in WMP it doesn't work but loads a green screen with working audio.
Also when I go to youtube or any other browser video site it just loads a green screen then freezes firefox until I end process on the plugin container.

I've asked about this on the CCCP forum but was told it has nothing to do with CCCP (which I find doubtful as both these things worked perfectly before installing CCCP.)

I have installed the latest graphics driver for my card and uninstalled and re-installed cccp, have also tried turning off hardware acceleration. Cleared registry of all "problems" and defragmented it. Nothing worked.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (unfortunately I can't seem to system restore beyond yesterday.)

You can try Codec Tweak Tool and see if it finds any errors.

And be careful when you install codec packs. Try avoid install everything in them.

  3. Thanks but it didn't seem to find any errors, tried changing some of the settings round and it didn't change anything.

Instead of the codec pack, try installing just FFdshow and the Haali media splitter.

I've had issues in the past with VOB's also. Try installing another media player such as mpc-hc and see if it
    will play.
VOB's need a directshow mpeg-2 decoder installed to work in WMP. MPC-HC, on the other hand, uses it's own decoders.
You could try rendering the vob in Graphstudio and see what it does.

  7. Cheers, I've managed to get the .VOBs working in VLC but as for youtube and such, still not working.

One day my computer will work again @@
