Hi. I don't post here very often, but after trying many ways to fix this situation I've decided it's time to request help from the experts. Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Here's the situation: I created a DVD from an avi file using Corel DVD MovieFactory Pro 7. The DVD has just the avi file plus an srt subtitle file. No menus. The idea is that the DVD player starts playing the movie right away and shows the subtitles. And here's the weird thing: Everything appears to work fine regarding the subtitle file: Subtitles appear OK in the preview and, after burning the DVD, it works as expected on any video player software. But when I play the DVD in my Sony DVD player, there's no way I can make the subtitles to appear. The remote control allows me to turn subtitles on/off, but it simply doesn't work here. I've authored other DVDs with the same software and the result is perfectly fine. This is the first and (so far) only DVD with this kind of problem. Again, everything works flawlessly on my PC. But when I try to watch the movie in my bedroom using my DVD player and TV set, I can't make the subtitles to appear. Again, thank you in advance for your input on this issue.

Try instead the free avstodvd converter. It can make a dvd from the avi and srt with switchable dvd subtitles.
