vhsc adapter not playing

guess this is the right place to ask this? trying to play vhs-c tape in an adapter with my vcr, its playing but i get "no signal"
whats going on?

do normal tapes play? if yes than get a new adapter.

yeah other tapes play, and the adapter is brand new

Try the adapter and same tape in another vcr recorder would be my next move.

If it then plays ok, then its the your vcr not excepting the adapter in some way....if it does not play then the adapter maybe suspect in some way.

Are the batteries in the adapter ok.....mine were flat at one time.

should have said, ive already tried another vcr, still does not play, and my adapter does not need batteries, i dont know why it wont play

Could it be a PAL/NTSC problem?

USA, Canada, Japan: NTSC, 60Hz, 525 lines
Much of the rest of the world: PAL, 50Hz, 625 lines

USA NTSC players will not play PAL tapes. PAL players will usually play NTSC tapes but produce a hybrid format call PAL 60. That requires a TV that supports PAL 60.

Are you sure it's not an S-VHS-C tape?

This would be incompatible with a standard VCR - even with an adapter.

Can you play the c-tape in another camera... if not....

If you can play another vhs c-tape with the same adapter ok...then there would seem to be a problem with the vhs c-tape in question.

If you think that this maybe the case, then seek proffesional advice from a local expert. Try phoning or googling for a local tape converting company for their advice or help etc.
