I'm in the process of converting over 100 family/home videos (some 20 years old) to digital format (DVD).
I am using a Samsung DVD V9800 as the VCR, and the Canopus ADVC110 to capture the video to my computer. I used this setup for the VHS tapes with no problem, and also connected my miniDV camcorder directly to the ADVC110 to capture the miniDV tapes, with no problem. But now I'm working on the VHS-C's I have, and am playing them through the Samsung using the Panasonic VHS PlayPak adapter that came with the VHS-C camcorder (which I no longer have, as it broke years ago). But every VHS-C tape has rolled/jumped throughout the playback (there's been 28 of them). I know the problem's got to be either in the VCR or the VHS-C adapter, but I don't know whether to invest in a new adapter, a used VHS-C camcorder (for direct connection and playback through the ADVC110), or another VCR?

VHS-C as a format is very finicky. In many cases, high-end pro/broadcast VCRs are required for stable playback.
