See "What is Blu-Ray" above left

The Blu-Ray standard only supports 1920x1080 progressive at 24p or 23.976p.
50p is supported for 1280x720 or 720x576
That isn't to say a particular Blu-Ray player wouldn't play a 1080 50p file. Some do some don't.
The TM700 1080 50p mode is also outside the AVCHD spec.
You can still shoot 1080 50p but for Blu-Ray you will need to convert to 1080 50i or 720 50p.
If you do a proper conversion 50p -> 50i, the result on the screen will be almost identical.Last edited by edDV; 10th Jun 2011 at 05:12.

You can watch the 1080p50 files on a powerful PC, or direct from the camcorder, or on a media card on some Panasonic TVs.
That's it, for now.
Great quality though.
Cheers,

Please advise me about tools for conversion 1080 50p to 1080 50i and 720 50p. Another question , What's native 24p which is a mode for recording HD video of Canon HF S30 ? Thank you so much again in advance for reply.

Best done with AVISynth filters. Others will comment.
But any pro editor (AVID, Premiere, FCP, Vegas, etc), will allow setting a 1920x1080 50p project and encode direct to 50i Blu-Ray.
24p is known a "film style". It requires a special shooting technique with solid tripods, special lenses, limited pan/zoom etc.
What kinds of shows will you be shooting? If hand held best to shoot 50i or 50p.Last edited by edDV; 11th Jun 2011 at 00:00.

edDV, Because of my requirement is studying and collection data of HD camcorders in order to build HD video level onto AVCHD and Blu-ray
disc. Thank you very much for your information and recommendation. -

I pretended 1080 50p -> 50i with AVID and the result is disastrous. Better work on the 720 50p -
Interlaced was invented by the devil. I never use it. I'll take my jelly frames and eat them with a smile. I shoot 1080 30/24p, just use a steady hand, a tripod is always better..... always, even at 60i. Soon I will invest in a 60p camera. Newer AVCHD specs will handle it. Plus 1080 60p downscaled to 720 60p should be pretty sharp. Or rather 50p in your case.

Broadcast will remain 60i/50i well into the future due to transmission effeciency. 1080 60p/50p remains unsupported for Blu-Ray, ATSC/DVB.
Consumer camcorders intended for handheld are 1080 60i/50i. Flash ram will need to drop in price before the average consumer will buy into 1080 60p/50p. I've always supported 720 60p/50p for consumer camcorders but they buy into the "Full HD" marketing for AVCHD.
AVCHD v2.0 1080 60p/50p will remain a hobbyist format for the next few years. Too low in bitrate for serious production (should be >35 Mb/s) and too ram expensive for the average consumer.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
