    Hey guys,

So I put subtitles on my .avi movie using AVIAddXSub, and it works perfectly when I play it on my computer, but when I burned the movie onto a DVD using Windows DVD Maker, the subtitles are nowhere to be seen. I tried several different DVD players, and pressed the 'subtitles' button for each one to turn the subtitles on, but it says that there are no subtitles.

Is there anyway to make it work for Windows DVD Maker, or should I use a new program?

Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but when I was converting my movie to DVD, I forgot to change the aspect ratio to 16:9 from 4:3, so now I have to redo it anyways.

    Thanks!

Just use something that support external subtitles like avstodvd or dvd flick. Load the avi and the subtitle. Convert and burn with imgburn.

  3. The alternative to conversion to DVD is get a DVD Player that supports divx. I have Philips 5990 that has UltraDivx support and also upconverts to HD if attached via HDMI cable. I use AviAddXSubs and just copy the .divx output to a "data DVD" made with Imgburn. Saves a lot of time. Plus you can often put 2 or 3 full length movies on a DVD5 instead of just 1.

edit: I guess the 5990 is obsolete now. But anyway, anything with UltraDivx support should do subs added with AviAddXSubs. All the Philips players I've had that played .divx/avi supported it and also my old OPPO player.
