  1. Hi all, what happens when I'm playing a mkv video that has 6 channels on a computer that has only stereo speakers?
Am I loosing 4 channels? If so, is there a way to select a stereo setting or would I have to convert the file to a stereo setting?

    Thanks!

Depends on if you have a "5.1 - to - Dolby Surround/ProLogic/PLII" downconverting plugin somewhere in the playback chain.

Without it, or without a downconverting program, you're losing the 4 other channels.

Doesn't ac3filter or FFDshow audio config/mixer convert the channels to stereo during runtime ? (via directshow playback)

Yeah, those are examples of the "downmixer" plugged into the playback chain...

If you can't hear the voices, you are just getting the left and right front with no center in the mix.
