Hi,
I am aware of the difference between composite and S-Video, however, my question is: What are the ramifications of using an S-Video connection when playing back a non-S-VHS tape? I think I know the answer, but I would be interested to hear what some of the gurus here on the forum have to say.
Thanks,
Bob

You write the question as if using s-video on VHS is a negative.
 It's not.

S-VHS has an "S" for "Super", a reference to resolution.

Both VHS and S-VHS have separated chroma and luma, so s-video is best for both.

Or did you mean some other format?Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

No, my question is based on the fact that S-VHS tapes had a higher particle density than standard VHS tapes, and my lack of understanding that the Y and C are separated on both VHS and S-VHS.

 You've answered my question, then.

 Thanks,

 Bob
