  1. Hi,

I live in th UK and have two laptops which I want to be able to play both region2 and region1 DVDs on. I found the patch DVD43 which makes one of my laptops region free but it doesn't work on the other. The one that doesn't work is a Toshiba Portege 500 running Vista and the DVD drive is a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-844S. I think it is the drive that is the problem. Does anyone know how I might make this one region free too? is there a fix anyone knows about? I've tried a few other packages like AnyDVD and Rioplayer but none have worked.

If AnyDVD doesn't work then you are doing something wrong.

  3. You can usually just use a player that ignores the region code, like VLC.

  4. Thanks chaps. I've tried re-installing AnyDVD and I still have problems. I chose to register/buy later I assume that by doing this you get a trial period to see if it works. It doesn't; it plays only the first two screens i.e. the Copyright page and another general info page and then freezes.

I've also tried the VLC player and it won't play my dvd
