  1. I bought this DVD yesterday for £14 from HMV. The film plays without problems as do the trailers stored on the DVD along with the film itself.

However, I've tried making a backup copy of this DVD with DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and DVD Fab HD Decrypter without success. DVD Decrypter just hangs at the "Parsing VTS_06_0.IFO" stage for hours, DVD Shrink gives me a "Cyclic Redundancy Check error" at 10% of the Analysing stage and DVD Fab HD Decrypter crashes at the Open DVD Source stage.

I'm using DVD Fab HD Decrypter 4 by the way. I've tried on 2 different PCs with the same ripping software but different DVD-RW drives with the same problem on both PCs.

I saw the other thread regarding this film in the DVD to DVDR section but I believe that was regarding the Region 1 DVD. I think I may be the first person to report this problem on the Region 2 DVD version of this film.

So is this a new type of copy protection? And if so, how do I get around it as I really need to make a backup copy as I have children in the house who may mishandle the original disc.

You need to be using latest versions of softwares as they include more decryption. Using version 4 is silly when 5 is out.

  3. I can't get an updated version of DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink but if you're suggesting that I give the latest version of DVD Fab HD Decrypter a try then I suppose I could give it a try.

Is the latest DVD Fab HD Decrypter a Beta version?

  4. Gave DVD Fab HD Decrypter 5.2.1.0 Beta a go and it worked.

Shrinked with DVD Shrink and burned with DVD Decrypter and successfully made a backup copy.

Never had problems with ripping any DVD with DVD Decrypter before but I suppose I'll learn from this experience.

    Thanks for the help.
